LyicsBy faith in Christ I walk with God;
I leave the world, the sinner's road,
And bear my cross from day to day;
And travel in the narrow way.
This sinful world I have forsook;
My comfort is my Saviour's book;
No wealth nor friends I here can find-
For all of them I've left behind.
The Gospel now I must declare-
The Pilgrim's staff, I also bear,
To shew the world how christians went,
When by their Lord they first were sent,
The Saviour gave the great command,
To say God's kingdom is at hand-
And preach that men should all repent-
And thus prepar'd, the sev'nty went.
My flesh and blood esteems it hard,
That I must leave all mortal good,
To call aloud to Satan's band,
Repent, believe, or else be damn'd!
This day my Saviour calls you home-
O! will you listen, will you come;
And will you seek the heav'nly rest,
And with his saints will you be blest?
Now leave your sins, take up the cross,
And for your Lord count all things loss;
And crowns of life he'll freely give
To you, to all, who in him live.
