Lyics

I sinn'd, and mourn'd and prayed to God,
And sought my sins forgiv'n-
By guilt and woe, a heavy load,
To constant grief was driv'n.

I saw my soul expos'd to woe,
My heart in awful pain
Expir'd and look'd to fall so low,
I ne'er should rise again.

Lord Jesus, save my soul, I said,
And threw myself on him;
Out of darkness my soul he led,
And pardon'd all my sin.

His spirit witness'd with my own
That I was born of God;
Redeem'd from fears I was a son,
But not of flesh and blood.

My heart rejoiced, my soul was full
Of love to God and men;
Alas! why are the saints so dull?
Why not rejoice again?

The praise of God is all my song;
His work is my delight;
His love has brought me safe,
And blest me day and night.

I join with all the sons of light
To praise my Saviour's name-
All ye who taste his love, unite
To spread his wond'rous fame.
