Lyics

Well met, dear friends, in Jesus' name,

Come let us all rejoice;

While we our Saviour's praise proclaim;

With cheerful heart and voice.

But, O dear Jesus, Lamb of God,

Send down the heavenly Dove;

His graces to diffuse abroad,

And warm our hearts with love.

In vain, dear Saviour, here we meet,

Unless thy face we see;

Thy presence makes life's journey sweet,

Dear Lord, we cleave to thee.

A dungeon shows a heavenly dawn,

When there with thee we dwell;

But if thy presence be withdrawn,

A palace is a hell.

Then, O dear Jesus, condescend

To meet us with a smile;

Thy Spirit's quick'ning influence send,

And cleanse our hearts from guile:

That at the close each one may say -

"We're not met here in vain,

"For we have tasted heaven today,

"Nor would we more contain."
