Lyics

O how I have long'd for the coming of God!

And sought him by praying and searching his word;

By watching and fasting my soul was oppress'd,

Nor would I give over till Jesus had bless'd.

The news of his mercy at length I did hear,

According to promise, he answer'd my prayer;

And glory is open'd in floods on my soul,

Salvation from Christ is beginning to roll.

The news of his mercy is spreading abroad,

And sinners come crying and bowing to God;

Their mourning and praying are heard very loud,

And many find favor thro' Jesus' rich blood.

See more, my dear Saviour, that fall at thy foot,

Oppress'd with a burden enormously great;

O raise them, my Jesus, to tell of thy love,

And shout hallelujahs with angels above.

I'll sing and I'll shout, and I'll shout and I'll sing;

O God make the nations with praises to ring,

With loud acclamations of Jesus' great love,

And carry us all to the city above.

We wait for thy chariot, it seems to draw near,

O come, my dear Saiviour, let glory appear,

We long to be shouting and singing above,

With angels o'erwhelm'd in the ocean of love.
