Lyics

Sinner turn thine eye to cal-va-ry,

And on th' accursed tree,

Bleeding, ag-o-niz-ing, dy-ing,

See the Saviour hangs for thee.

Hear his groans of bitter anguish,

See him raise his dying eyes

From the taunting throng around him,

To his Father in the skies

Hear him cry, when life is failing,

Why hast thou forgotten me?

While the Scribe and Priest are mocking

At his dying agony.

Hear, while down his checks are flowing

Streams of mingled tears and blood,

How he offers up petitions

For his murderers to God.

See him bow his head in sorrow,

See him draw his dying breath;

All to save a world of rebels

From the pains of endless death.

Look until thy heart is melted

By the love he thus makes known;

Own him now and he will own thee

At his father's glorious throne.
