Lyics

I'm the shepherd of the mountain high,
And the castles strong far below me lie;
Here the sun's first rays with joy I see,
And his parting beams delay with me.

I'm the boy of the mountain,
I'm the boy, I'm the boy!
I'm the boy of the mountain,
I'm the boy of the mountain!

O, here is the flashing streamlet's head,
And I drink it pure from its rocky bed;
Then over the cliff it bursts its way,
And I watch it as it falls in spray.

When the wild storms in their anger come,
And fiercely rend my mountain home.
As they madly sweep the clouds along,
Still above the storm resounds my song,

Beneath me oft when the lightning flies,
While above I stand neath cloudless skies,
I call to the bolts, and bid them not
Fall to blast my father's humble cot.

Should the warbell call, "Arm for the fight,"
And signals blaze on each mountain hight,
I'd boldly march with the soldier throng,
And wave my sword while I sing my song:
