Lyics

DEEP in our hearts let us record,

The deeper sorrows of our Lord:

Behold the rising billows roll,

To overwhelm his holy soul.

Yet, gracious God, thy power and love,

Have made the curse a blessing prove;

The dreadful sufferings of thy Son,

Atoned for crimes which we had done.

O for his sake his our crimes forgive,

And let thy waiting people live:

Thee we invoke in his great name,

Let not our hope be put to shame.
