LyicsTHE Saviour ris'n to-day we praise,
In concert with the blest;
For now we see his work complete,
And enter into rest.
On this first day a brighter scene
Of glory was display'd
By the Creating Word, than when
The universe was made.
He rises who mankind has bought
With grief and pain extreme:
'Twas great to speak the world from naught,
'Twas greater to redeem.
How vain the stone, the watch, the seal!
Naught can forbid his rise:
'Tis he who shuts the gates of hell,
And opens Paradise.
Let us his righteousness disclose;
His death and rising show;
Till he return to banish woes,
And bless his saints below.
