To Thee our souls we raise,
And to the sov'reign bounty rear
A monument of praise.
Thy mercy gilds the path of life
With every cheering ray,
Kindly restrains the rising tear,
Or wipes that tear away.
To tents of woe, to beds of pain,
Our cheerful feet repair,
And with the gifts Thy hand bestows,
Relieve the mourners there.
The widow's heart shall sing for joy,
The orphan shall be fed;
The hung'ring soul we'll gladly point
To Christ, the living Bread.
