LyicsCome brethren and sisters -- unite in a band,
To praise the dear Saviour we'll join heart and hand;
To tell of his wonders and sing of his love,
'Till we are safe landed in the mansions above.
All human confessions and creeds we'll deny,
And take for a standard God's word to walk by;
To follow the Saviour in every command,
'Till we are safe landed on that happy land.
We will lord it over the conscience of none,
Who cleave tot he Saviour,a nd wickedness shun;
Who love the Lord Jesus and sing of his grace;
Around the Lord's table we'll meet them in peace.
The table of Jesus with love doth abound;
O christians, come, all your prejudice lay down,
And flock to his table like lambs to the field,
And feast on that love which can never be told.
We'll join you in singing and join you in pray'r,
And join you in spreading the word far and near;
We now hope to meet you on Canaan's bright shore,
Where trouble is over, and parting's no more.
Divisions and parties, O! were they all done,
And all the Lord's people united in one;
You would then see the gospel would flourish around,
And peace, love and union, forever abound.
Like lightning around it the gospel would fly,
And 'waken the nations, a Saviour to try,
You would see poor sinners would turn unto God,
And find peace and pardon thro' Jesus's blood.
My soul is all on fire -- I long for the time
When christians in union and friendship shall join:
Come join me my brethren, and give me your hand,
And we'll walk together to that happy land.
